Discipline and Warning System
High standards of conduct and discipline are necessary to preserve the companys reputation, public image and to ensure a safe and harmonious productive working atmosphere. In order to maintain these standards, a system of rules has been developed. It is necessary that these rules be strictly followed.
Rule violation or misconduct leading to disciplinary action include, but are not limited to:
Discrimination by any employee against any guest or co-worker based on race of nationality, religion, gender,
or handicap.
Any form of harassment including sexual, racial, nationality, religious, gender, or handicap-base harassment.
Congregating with other co-workers and ignoring the guests; gathering in groups of four (4) or more in any
public area of the ship.
· Indecent language in the presence of a guest or co-worker.
Purchasing drinks from the bar without authorization.
Creating or contributing to unsanitary or unsafe conditions.
Sleeping while on duty.
Repeated tardiness and absenteeism.
Inappropriate dress code and grooming standards.
Unauthorized use of public areas.
Violation of regulations concerning safety and fire/lifeboat drills.
Exhibiting a negative attitude which interferes with the job performance or theperformance of others.
Discussing business, personal, or unauthorized matters in public areas of the ship where guests can
overhear the conversation.
Violation of shore leave regulations.
Smoking in public areas.
Discussing with and/or requesting tips from a guest.
· Violation of any other established ship regulations Rule violations or misconduct leading to dismissal include,
but not limited to:
Carrying or having possession of drugs, alcohol, firearms, or any other weapons.
Cooking in cabins or burning candles and any other open flame in cabins.
Theft of any property that is not rightfully yours or keeping unreported found items.
Intoxication on any area of the ship or to come onboard intoxicated after a shorleave.
Gambling.
· Entering any guest cabin or other prohibited areas without proper authorization.
Intimacy with guests or offering sexual favors of any kind.
Dumping garbage overboard.
Harboring a stowaway or non-fare-paying individual.
· Inviting or allowing guests in crew areas or inviting guests to crew parties.
Fighting under any circumstance.
Sabotage of ship and /or guest property.
Smuggling of any goods.
Solicitation of gratuities/tips.
Refusal to work
Breach of confidentiality.
Flagrant insubordination.
Any of the above rule violations will result in disciplinary action and may lead to the crewmember dismissal and disembarkation without repatriation.
Violation of the rules and regulations constitutes a reach of contract and with the exception of: a) any offence that is of criminal nature, which will result in immediate dismissal and probable civil legal action, and b) any violation of the above rules that may lead to immediate dismissal - will be dealt onboard in the following manner:
1. FIRST OFFENCE
Will result in a written warning imposed by the Master, Staff Captain, Hotel Manager, Chief Engineer, F&B Manager or Department Head.
2. SECOND OFFENCE
Will result in a second written warning imposed by the Master, Staff Captain, Hotel Manager, Chief Engineer, F&B Manager or Department Head.
3. THIRD OFFENCE
Will result in dismissal from the ship, and ineligibility for any future employment with the company.
