Sign On and Sign Off Procedures

Every time a Crewmember joins the ship is required to “sign on”. The Crewmember is then bound by Maritime law, and the disciplinary procedure established by Merchant Marine Regulations.

When the Crewmember arrives onboard must report immediately to the crew purser for sign on and issue the ships rules and regulations and a crew pass, the crew purser will then refer the crewmember to his/her department head.

The department head will assist the crewmember with cabin assignment, uniforms, job description and duty schedule.

When going on leave or in the end of the contract, the crewmember will be instructed to “sign off”. Always sign of the crewmember as an employee, never as a guest.

When signing off the crewmember must return all ships properties to the immediate supervisor (uniforms, cabin keys, crew pass etc.).
